PublicationKuskaya: A training program for collaboration and innovation in global health IQ( 2019-05-10)To solve increasingly complex global health problems, health professionals must collaborate with professionals in non-health-related fields. The Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia and University of Washington created the NIH-funded Kuskaya training program in response to the need for transformative global health training for talented graduates from all disciplines. Kuskaya is a 1-year, interdisciplinary training program that teaches Peruvian and US graduates critical skills related to public health research through the design and implementation of a collaborative research project in Peru. Between 2014 and 2018, the program has trained 33 fellows, of which one third were from non-health disciplines. The program is unique because it targets junior trainees from disciplines outside of the health field, the program’s curriculum is adapted to fit the fellows’ backgrounds and professional aspirations, and the structure of the program allows for collaboration within the cohort and encourages fellows to apply for additional funding and pursue advanced degrees.

PublicationFerromagnetic resonance of quasiperiodic Au/Co Fibonacci multilayers: Magnetic anisotropy and interlayer coupling( 2017-08-25)Ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) study of quasiperiodic Au/Co Fibonacci multilayers revealed that uniform resonance modes related to the bulk Co and interface Au/Co regions of Co layers were excited in all multilayers

PublicationAnalysis of Hydrodynamic Patterns and Suspended Sediment Transport in the Virrilá Estuary-Peru IQ( 2018-11-01T05:00:00Z)The association between poor intraoperative glycemic control and postoperative acute kidney injury (AKI) in adult cardiac surgery has been observed, but data in the pediatrics remain unknown. We performed a hypothesis that intraoperative hyperglycemia and/or wider glycemic fluctuation were associated with the incidence of postoperative AKI in pediatric cardiac surgery.

PublicationAntineutrino Charged-Current Reactions on Hydrocarbon with Low Momentum Transfer IQ( 2018-03-17)We report on multinucleon effects in low momentum transfer (<0.8 GeV/c) antineutrino interactions on plastic (CH) scintillator. These data are from the 2010-2011 antineutrino phase of the MINERvA experiment at Fermilab. The hadronic energy spectrum of this inclusive sample is well described when a screening effect at a low energy transfer and a two-nucleon knockout process are added to a relativistic Fermi gas model of quasielastic, Δ resonance, and higher resonance processes. In this analysis, model elements introduced to describe previously published neutrino results have quantitatively similar benefits for this antineutrino sample. We present the results as a double-differential cross section to accelerate the investigation of alternate models for antineutrino scattering off nuclei.
